The importance of being a Smart*Ass
Published on September 15, 2011
Cheeky perhaps, but the name Smart*Ass is fitting. Few people know that colorectal cancer is the second most deadly form of cancer among men and women but is up to 90 per cent preventable through early detection.
7 Communications was pleased to be part of the 2011 Darryl Sittler Smart*Ass Golf Tournament, in support of Screen Colons Canada. With more than 150 golfers and supporters in attendance to support the Hockey Hall of Famer including Leafs alumni, celebrities and Olympians, the message on September 14th was crystal clear - 'get screened'. Darryl's wife Wendy died of colon cancer in 2001. Since then, he’s worked to educate others about the form of cancer and get people talking about the importance of being a Smart*Ass, especially those with a family history.
Special thanks to each of our sponsors, Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment for all their support, our MC - Michael 'Pinball' Clemons, the smooth sounds of Andrew Cole and to the voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Andy Frost, for lending his voice to the cause as our evening auctioneer.
SAVE THE DATE! The date for the 2012 Darryl Sittler Smart*Ass Golf Tournament is June 5, 2012 at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
